A HISTORY OF THE EMERALD HILL ESTATE, SINGAPORE
Emerald Hill, Present to Future
Emerald Hill today is but a few steps off of bustling Orchard Road with its international branded retail and lifestyle offerings - across from high speed train access to all of the island state.
Yet, amongst all the trappings of modern Singapore, the Emerald Hill Estate retains its sense of place and quiet peaceful existence. The special inherent qualities of being both an embracing neighbourhood and a viable living community.
Emerald Hill is reminiscent of the Nutmeg plantation it once was. Its tropical expansive green spaces and undulating rows of heritage residences, providing unique accommodations and an iconic, one of a kind, neighbourhood, for those choosing to live in, or walk its meandering pathways.
Time and the ever expanding and changing developments surrounding the Estate, have defined it as a human scale oasis and emboldened it with the inner strength of a community.
While welcoming incoming residents, and visitors, it treasures the memories and contributions of those that have resided in the community over the years and strives to ensure its existence, as Singapore’s unique and most special residential community and neighbourhood, going forward.
The Emerald Hill Conservation Association is dedicated to continually upgrading the conditions within the Estate to a level of ‘liveability’ and ‘peaceful existence’ one would expect in such an important district.
